So I finally sat down & watched Kimi no Na wa or Your Name by Makoto Shinkai to see what the fuss was about & it was breathtakingly beautiful. Can’t seem to stop crying.

For anyone familiar with Shinkai’s prior work, Kimi no Na wa is very much in line with what he’s known for: gorgeous visuals and fantastic narrative. Here’s the summary

Based around the lives of Mitsuha Miyamizu and Taki Tachibana, both end up swapping bodies and intermittently experiencing parts of each other’s lives. However, not is all as it seems and there’s a great deal more going on here than it first appears.

I thought this was a Miyazaki movie and was surprised to find that it was by Makoto Shinkai. He’s the one to watch and I dare say this movie shot up to one of my top 10.

Beautiful movie with a beautiful soundtrack by RADWIMPS. The soundtrack just knocked it out of the park. I RARELY go directly to find music and this music is GOOD.

Wonderful story with beautiful characters. I’m moved.

I can’t stop saying the word beautiful.

See this movie.
